Sichuan News Network, Yibin, December 18 (Chen Gang, Wang Botao) On December 17, staff from the Jiangbei Power Supply Company of State Grid Sichuan Yibin conducted a special inspection at the Lingang Convention and Exhibition Center during the 2017 China International Famous Liquor Culture Festival. After 15 days of overtime work by power supply personnel, the center’s power supply project was successfully energized three days ahead of schedule, at 11:30 p.m. on the 15th, ensuring that the center could operate normally throughout the duration of the International Famous Liquor Culture Festival.

It is reported that the 2017 China International Famous Liquor Culture Festival, hosted by the China Alcoholic Beverages Association, will be held in Yibin from December 18 to 20. During the event, a series of major activities will take place, including liquor trade fairs and exhibitions, the China Famous Liquor “Belt and Road” Internationalization Development Forum, the Strong-Aroma Baijiu Culture Summit Forum, and an International Famous Liquor Tasting Night. More than a hundred world-renowned liquor enterprises from 17 countries, along with well‑known Chinese baijiu producers, will gather in Yibin to jointly build a platform for cooperation and exchange, and to discuss the future development of the liquor industry.

The main exhibition area of this International Famous Liquor Culture Festival is located in the Lingang Development Zone Convention and Exhibition Center, covering approximately 8 mu of land and divided into 75 renowned liquor exhibition zones. The Jiangbei Power Supply Company is responsible for the power supply construction project at the Convention and Exhibition Center. In early December, upon receiving the construction assignment, the company promptly dispatched its core personnel to form a strong construction team, developed a scientific and meticulous construction plan, and worked backward from the deadline to ensure that the project progressed safely and in an orderly manner according to the scheduled milestones.

According to Wang Cheng, the project manager at Jiangbei Power Supply Company, the convention and exhibition center is designed to handle a load of 8,000 kilowatts and is powered by a dual‑source system: the Pinggang Line 1 serves as the primary supply, while the Pinggang Line 2 acts as a backup emergency power source. The cable laying route for this project is complex, presenting significant construction challenges and high technical requirements, with substantial safety risks arising from the concurrent work of various construction teams. To address these challenges, we have adhered strictly to standardized procedures, rigorously enforced on-site safety and quality management, ensured “zero accidents” in construction safety, and successfully completed the project construction tasks on time and to the required standards.

“Every day, I’m on site by a little after 7 a.m. I have to oversee the construction safety and progress of the engineering team, while also organizing relevant personnel to repeatedly discuss the power connection, equipment interconnection, and operational procedures for more than 100 new switchgear units—analyzing technical steps and identifying challenges. It’s not until after 10 p.m. that I finally head home, so exhausted that I fall asleep as soon as I sit down on the sofa,” said Chen Yaoxiang, an engineer at Jiangbei Power Supply Company.

After continuous, relentless efforts by the construction crew—particularly around the clock from December 12 to 14—the project finally completed the installation of 3,500 meters of high‑voltage double‑circuit cables for the convention and exhibition center, installed eight transformers with a total capacity of 10,800 kVA, and put in place two sets of high‑voltage switchgear, effectively meeting the load distribution and demand requirements of the exhibition area.

“The electricians are truly full of energy—within such a short timeframe, they’ve already completed the power‑supply project ahead of schedule, once again demonstrating the role of electricity as the ‘vanguard’ in supporting the construction of major projects in Lingang,” said Tao Tianbin, the on-site manager of Lingang Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., the project management entity for the Convention and Exhibition Center.
